About Us

Old Mill Road BioFarm is a family business that aims to enrich local food culture, encourage more small scale farmers, connect those farmers to the consumer and promote the idea that we are not superior to the environment but are part of the ecology. We do this by growing food for the plate, simple hey?

Fraser likes eating good food, which is why he grows his own. He also likes eating at other peoples places which is why he grows stuff to sell and tries to get to know his customers in the hope that one day they might invite him over for dinner (and to help consume their excess wine). He enjoys observing the world around him and sharing what he learns with whoever is interested.

Kirsti musters the kids, plans out the rotation, orders the seeds, bakes the sourdough, grows the seedlings, weeds, harvests, cooks dinner, remembers everybody’s name and birthday and smiles at everyone. She goes to bed early.

Marlinspike reckons that his parents are hopeless and the “Gourmet Farmer” Mathew Evans does a heaps better job. When he grows up he reckons he’ll have a thousand chickens and that everyone will buy them off him because they taste the best.

Piccola loves peas and waking her mum and dad in the middle of the night with cold feet.

And that’s us. Well it’s not all of us. We have family, friends and community that all help out in one way or another and without our customers we wouldn’t be here. But you get the picture.
